Introducing…an awesome Neutral Cycler. Although he’s a mechanic himself, Lucas has been coming to Neutral Cycle for the past three years because he loves being around people who really care about riding, but don’t take things too seriously either. Lucky for us, we got a chance to chat more about his personalized bike and his love for cycling.

Q: What kind of bike do you own?

A: I built this bike by hand during the summer of 2017 in Chicago. I was working as an apprentice under a frame builder, learning how to build bicycle frames. I don't have a name for it, but it is a touring bike built for long journeys or just cruises around town.

Q: What’s your favorite part about your bike?

A: How it fits me - I have a long torso and short legs, so it’s hard to find a bike that is custom fitted to me like this one. Also, I spent 3 months learning how to build a bike. I put my attention into every detail in this bike, so it really is my pride and joy.

Q: What’s the worst crash you’ve ever been in?

A: Honestly, I haven't really crashed while riding at all. My shin has gotten pretty messed up from having to stop all of a sudden in traffic though.

Q: Why do you ride?

A: I ride because it allows me to "take a break". Riding to me, is meditation-like, it allows me to think and breath when life is busy or overbearing. It allows me to take a break from the routines in life and enjoy myself and my surroundings. Riding also allows me to push myself mentally and physically. And overall it is just a fun thing to do.

If you’re a Neutral Cycler with a story to tell, or know someone else who does - we’d love to hear all about it. Email us at manager@neutraldesignstudio.com to get in touch.
